Ikorodu City – the Unknown
After Ikorodu City finished 4th in the last NPFL edition, people can no longer consider it a developing club. Although most experts agree that it will be very hard for Ikorodu City to win the championship, a top-3 finish is possible. The club’s opening fixture is against Ranches Bees and it will take place on August 30. This is also one of the newly promoted sides, so Ikorodu City should be able to secure a win.
Enyimba Needs to Step up Its Game
We can’t talk about the Nigeria Premier Football League and not mention Enyimba. The 9-time champion will begin their 2026/27 campaign in an unusual position because their performance this year has not been their best. In fact, the squad finished in 11th position, despite scoring 44 goals. It also conceded 42 and accumulated a total of 15 defeats.
It’s no surprise that fans were very disappointed with these results. Enyimba will begin its new campaign with a match against Niger Tornadoes and this will be one of the matches that everyone has to keep a close eye on. The early result will show us whether the team can actually have a title shot.
